On March 10, 2009, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a proposed rule for mandatory greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting from large GHG emissions sources in the United States, as required by the FY2008 Consolidated Appropriations Act.
The proposed rule requires reporting of GHG emissions to begin in 2010, and for the report to be filed electronically with the EPA no later than March 31 of the following year.
Natural gas systems are specifically identified in the proposed GHG reporting rule:
- Natural Gas Processing Facilities
- Natural Gas Transmission Compression Facilities
- Underground Natural Gas Storage Facilities
Questar Energy Services will provide these services to help companies in the natural gas transmission business comply with the new GHG reporting rule.
Questar Energy Services provides a turnkey solution to help you prepare for compliance with the EPA’s new rule.
Step 1 - Detecting fugitive emissions – includes a walkthrough of the site, documentation of all potential sources of fugitive emissions, a survey of potential sources with GasFindIR Camera and tagging all leaking components.
Step 2 - Measuring and estimating – includes using Hi-Flow Sampler, Calibrated Bags to qualify CO2 and CH4 fugitive emissions, taking measurements and establishing logs as well as making engineering estimates of fugitive emissions.
Step 3 - Collecting and reporting data – includes capturing measurement data in a remote tracking system, generating online reporting of annual fugitive emissions and generating and electronic report to file with the EPA.
QES ATS has a reputation for high quality and setting the standard. The BLM recently issued a policy on verification of heating using QES ATS as the example.
Let Questar Energy Services help your company get ready for compliance today.
